Pilanesberg Game Drives

The 57 000 hectares of the Pilanesberg Game Reserve are brimming with almost all of Southern Africa’s game species. On the transition zone of the Kalahari and the Lowveld Pilanesberg offers a unique mix of fauna and flora.

Game drives in open safari vehicles allow close encounters with lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo. The Big 5 are joined by abundance of game including rare species such as wild dog or cheetah. More than 300 bird species make things interesting for avid birders.

Game drives are usually conducted in the early mornings of late afternoons. The cooler hours of the day see activity in the wildlife. Especially predators tend to hunt at dusk or dawn. The game drives are conducted by experienced rangers and game trackers. The rangers are always eager to share their knowledge of the environment and also happily assist you with your wildlife photography. Open safari vehicles allow for great views while still guaranteeing your safety at all times.

Exclusive Safaris

The exclusive safaris include drinks and snack as well as a safari hat and souvenir shirt. The ranger and tracker on this safari try to find as many species as possible on these tours.

Rate: R1 500 per person (game drive), R1 650 per person (game drive including bush braai or breakfast)

Private Game Drives

A private vehicle with a guide and tracker gives you the liberty to depart at your leisure. You can make this an early morning drive to witness all the action of the new day. You could also depart late and experience nocturnal animals and predators in action during a night drive.

Rate: R4 550 for 1-10 persons per vehicle or R7 550 for 11 – 25 persons per vehicle

Game Drive with Breakfast or Dinner

End your game drive in style with a full English breakfast or a buffet dinner at a venue in the Pilanesberg Game Reserve.

Number of Guests: 6 – 10 persons
Breakfast: R950 per person
Dinner: R975 per person

Daily Game Drives

Scheduled game drives leave every morning and afternoon. Experienced rangers and trackers take you on a discovery tour of the Pilanesberg Game Reserve.

Group Game Drives

Night Drives

The atmosphere of the Pilanesberg National Park changes rapidly as the sun sets. As the cool of night descends on the bush most animals slow down and other come to life. You will drive in the same open safari vehicle but conditions are very different. With no artificial light you see little but a big sky of stars. There is a tension that is almost tangible as you tracker uses a large floodlight to scan the bush for reflecting eyes. Night drives give you the chance to see animals that are rarely seen in daylight such as the brown hyena, aardvark, civet, honey badger and aardwolf. The cover is also a perfect opportunity to see the elusive leopard. The shy hunter is more active in the dark and lucky guests might spot him hiding his kill in a tree.
